November 21, 2030 - More manufacturers of electronic equipment are now joining the battery standard, based on the new generation of rechargeable batteries that can keep your TV run for 40 hours without recharging. They will soon be able to run basically all equipment at your home, the computer, toaster, lamps, vacuum cleaner, and they are even considered for washing machines. read more »

Eco Factor: Wind turbine design for places where windmills are not efficient. A conventional windmill proves to be efficient in open places and farms where there is no obstruction to slow down the velocity of wind. Such windmills don’t prove to be an effective source of renewable energy in busy and dense urban cities. A professor at the Cleveland State University, Dr. Majid Rashidi read more »

Eco Factor: VIVACE converters to harness ocean or river power even at slow currents. Oceans pack an enormous amount of energy in themselves. Researchers estimate that just 0.1 percent of the energy in the ocean could support the energy needs of more than twice the entire population of our planet. Concepts have always been developed to harness this tremendous force of nature, read more »

Researchers at the Oregon State University College of Engineering have discovered an efficient way to produce hydrogen from different types of biowaste, including municipal sewage. The process uses 75% less energy than the traditional water electrolysis method of producing hydrogen, and can be done at a much lower cost, making it a good candidate for hydrogen fuel production. read more »

Ten years ago, graduate students at Harvard University found a way of making silicon more responsive, by blasting the surface with a wafer, using a brief pulse of laser energy, along with dopants. They called the result “black silicon”, which was a much improved silicon and was able to absorb protons and release electrons much better. read more »

Eco Factor: Wave powered hydroelectric generator. Efforts have always been made to harness the tremendous power of the ocean waves, be it tidal generators or ocean wave turbines, all generators prove to be an expensive way to generate green electricity. Searaser is one such generator that can provide green electricity at an affordable cost using the same power of the ocean waves. read more »

Eco Factor: Raser Technologies’ geothermal project to provide 10MW of green power. We all want our houses to be powered by solar panels and wind turbines, but apart from their dependence on local climatic conditions, the high installation price of both these technologies has kept them away from global adoption. Until future technology delivers cheap and efficient solar panels and win read more »

Eco Factor: Hydrogen fuel cells for portable electronic devices. We all want our gadgets to be powered by solar and wind energy, but neither of them seems a feasible source for portable electronics. Until they are made more efficient, fuel cells makes a profitable and energy-efficient source of electricity for our gadgets. read more »
