Mexican designer Alberto Villarreal has come up with a green and efficient concept for taxis in Latin American cities. The MX-LIBRIS concept uses roof mounted solar panels to charge its batteries, and when the sun is out and it’s raining, the raised roof borders harvest rainwater, which is used as a coolant in the vehicle. In case the batteries are out, the taxi has fuel cells for backup.
Other features in the car include vertical windshields for better sun protection, a screen that separates the driver from commuters, in-wheel electric motors, low bamboo floor for easy access, rear view cameras, LED headlights, real time information display and Drive by Wire technology.
