Remember a while back I told you about Thanet Earth, the 220 acre hydroponic greenhouse crated on the chilly isle of Thanet in Kent, England that was made primarily to allow local farmers grow green vegetables all year round? Well, so far everyone thought this innovation was only going to be a source income for the locals only but as it turns out, it is also going to enable citizens to buy produce with a lower carbon footprint. Although greenhouse farming cannot be called organic by any stretch of the imagination but when you considered that it enables you to buy locally produced veggies as opposed to ones transported halfway around the world in carbon-emitting ships and trucks, you kinda get to see the point of it all!
