While we wait anxiously for flying cars, more prototypes and concepts continue to pop. The flight of the Terrafugia Transition is some solace, but we can only be sure once deliveries begin. Another flying car under development is the High Road from Leigh Aerosystems. They claim the car has gone through wind tunnel tests, and is on quick road to flight. read more »

The 2068 Fuzo concept comes from designer John Mahieddine, and is intended to be a sci-fi VTOL flying car. As it takes to the air, the wheels on the car retract, and the four turbines move into action, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 400 mph. The three-seat concept is kept lightweight by the use of materials like carbon fiber, Kevlar and carbon nanotubes. read more »

Flying Car! The renderings from ZEEP Design show a car that can transform into a helicopter. Blades on the rotor remain folded and out of sight when not in use, and once required, they span out to convert it to a full-fledged copter. Simultaneously, the tail rotor that’s generally tucked at the car’s rear comes out to complete the transformation. read more »

Mexican designer Alberto Villarreal has come up with a green and efficient concept for taxis in Latin American cities. The MX-LIBRIS concept uses roof mounted solar panels to charge its batteries, and when the sun is out and it’s raining, the raised roof borders harvest rainwater, which is used as a coolant in the vehicle. In case the batteries are out, the taxi has fuel cells for backup. read more »
