The resourceful FeliCa RFID readers in Japan have been graciously been accepting payments for transactions and are emerging as a popular mode of payment; and its as easy as swiping your phone across the machine. Just stumbled upon this article on gizmodo about robot mobility suits being desinged by Toyota to assist the elderly and disabled with climbing stairs and getting around town. Seems like these were unveiled at a robot conference back in 2005. I like how the designs are sort of retro-futuristic, and somewhat whimsical.
